I love Croque Madame on a rainy day after a heavy night of drinking. It’s creamy, fatty, and salty. YUM. There aren’t as many moving parts as you might think too. You’re able to do each step one-by-one to make one of the most delicious hangover cures or afternoon snacks you could ever have on standby.
4 thick slices of white bread
6 slices swiss cheese
4 slices fresh deli ham
2 cups bechamel sauce
Step 1: Preheat your grill at 200 degrees Celsius and toast all slices of bread under your grill on one side.
Step 2: Toasted side down, spread mustard on one slice of bread and top with one slice of cheese, two slices of ham, the second slice of cheese and another slice of bread. Repeat to build a second sandwich.
Step 3: Top each sandwich with 1 cup béchamel and 1 slice of cheese. Grill until the cheese is golden brown.
Step 4: While sandwiches are on the grill, fry two eggs.
Step 5: Transfer sandwiches to a plate and top with one egg each. Enjoy with a strong cup of coffee!
